He also has written offers from North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, Penn State, Georgia, Virginia and Oklahoma State. He is also hearing from Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech. Rivers made an unofficial visit to USC last week. He has been to junior day at Wake Forest and will be going to junior days at NC State, Clemson and Tennessee. He will also take an unofficial visit to Florida. Last season Rivers had 131 tackles with 2 interceptions and 4 fumble recoveries. "He's the best athlete in the school," said is coach Jody Grooms. "He's a four year starter on the varsity. He's just got big play capability. He's been a team leader since the ninth grade. He attacks the ball carrier and can go sideline to sideline. He has great instincts.""

Recruiting: Gamecocks land 'big' commitment
Posted by icatcherBasketball on Tuesday, August 23 @ Eastern Daylight Time (696 reads)

University of South Carolina coach Dave Odom has received a "big" commitment.

Mitchell Carter, a 7-foot, 280-pounder from Milwaukee, Wisc., who wears a size 19 shoe, committed to the Gamecocks during his official visit this past weekend, his coach said Monday.

"When we got Mitchell, he was a very big boy. Now he's a very big man," Rufus King High School coach Jim Gosz said. "Mitchell isn't going to be a McDonald's All-American this year. But I think in three years Mitchell can be one of the dominating big men in the SEC. I think if he's on course in five years, he will be drafted."
